ALPAR receives PepsiCo Foundation Smiles in Action Award

ALPAR is proud to announce that we were recognized with a Smiles in Action Award from the PepsiCo Foundation, the philanthropic arm of PepsiCo, Inc. The program is a part of the company’s efforts to support local communities by providing resources for valuable programming, such as the Can Do Kids program in Anchorage.

ALPAR is one of 22 public charities and organizations across the country to be identified as a Smiles in Action Award winner.

The funds ($5,000) will be used to support ALPAR’s Can Do Kids program in Anchorage. It will fund outreach encouraging youth to collect and recycle used beverage cans (UBCs) at the Anchorage Recycling Center as well as purchase monthly prizes to entice recurring participation.

“We look up to the community organizations across America that work tirelessly every day to ensure their neighbors thrive,” said C.D. Glin, vice president of the PepsiCo Foundation and global head of philanthropy. “PepsiCo has a long history of working with local partners to invest in communities where our consumers and employees live and work, and we’re proud to support these organizations in making lasting change.”

To participate in the Anchorage Can Do Kids program, school-age children can collect empty, clean aluminum cans and take them to the Anchorage Recycling Center during normal business hours. Children who do so will be put in for a monthly prize drawing. Can Do Kids guide can be picked up at the Anchorage Recycling Center or downloaded on the Programs tab of our website.
