The bags are back!

James Patrick, Pepsi Bypass Mail, is just one of the friendly faces behind the logistics support team that moves thousands of ALPAR bags across Alaskans each year.

While the New Year may have just started, ALPAR’s 2024 litter prevention season is well underway! Last week we received 879 cases of ALPAR bags. The green bags are used for Flying Cans; the yellow bags are used for community cleanups and Flying Bottles. Since 1990, ALPAR has given away more than 3 million bags. This year’s bags consist of 20% recycled content.

A big thank you to this year’s logistics support team and sponsors: TOTE Maritime Alaska donated the over the water movement of the bags; Lynden Transport donated the transload at the Port in Tacoma, Washington; Weaver Brothers Inc. donated the move from the Port of Alaska (Anchorage) to the warehouse; PepsiCo Beverages donates year-round warehouse storage as well as mailing and logistics support to assist ALPAR in distributing the bags across the state; and Northern Star Resources/Pogo Mine sponsored the production of the bags.

The forms to order the bags were mailed to more than 400 contacts across the state; ALPAR expects to send out as many as 170,000 bags across Alaska in 2024.
