Alaska’s community recycling centers and other recycling-related non-profits can now apply for the ALPAR 2018 Recycling Grants to assist in improving recycling programs for household recyclables. ALPAR’s recycling mini-grants are made available through the generous support of Alaska’s business community.
Grant requests can be for any amount, however those between $500 and $2,000 are typical depending on project and size of community. Total funding available for 2018 is $15,000. Proposals will be accepted until all funds are disbursed. Preference will be given to Alaska’s rural communities however larger communities with limited recycling will also qualify. Funds must be used for specific programs or projects such as purchase of equipment, supplies, events or other public awareness efforts.
ALPAR’s Recycling Grants have funded projects such as school curriculum development, scales and other equipment and supplies for use in the Flying Cans and Flying Bottles programs in rural Alaska, recycling events, incentives and promotions, designing and printing flyers and posters, and improving recycling storage units or collection centers.
